SecureRF Combines Security with Sensors
Sensors can be used to monitor a variety of environments but they need to be powered. SecureRF has developed a way to run sensors on battery–assisted passive (BAP) RFID tags and store the resulting data – up to 4Mbits of extended user memory - while meeting EPCglobal Class 1, Gen 2 standards.
BAP RFID tags, also known as semi-active tags, communicate using the same backscatter technique as passive tags and use a battery to run the circuitry on the microchip or an onboard sensor. BAP tags cost much less than an active RFID tag.
SecureRF’s LIME Tag can be equipped with a variety of sensors:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Tamper indication
- Shock sensing
- pH levels
- Other sensors that are small enough to fit on a battery–assisted passive RFID tag
